Be A Queen

Anyone who has met my youngest spawn knows she is quite a character! Every day with her is a learning experience to say the least. Today’s was one worth putting in the books I think.

My middle child has always adored princesses. So much so, her nickname has been Princess since she could toddle and most of her toys coincide with the theme. Jewelry, tiaras, gloves, twirly dresses, and so much more can be found in there!

Today, her little sister decided to steal a crown. With excitement and pride, she raced in to the living room to show me. But as she placed it on her hand, I was surprised with the words, “I keen!” (She’s only two, so pronunciation is still a work in progress mind you.)

“You’re the queen?” I asked. I was amused that she identified as that rather than a princess.

She nodded enthusiastically, then placed the crown on my head instead, “You keen!”

In that small, silly moment, I felt empowered. I have always considered myself a queen personality and especially since becoming a mother. My toddler reminded me of that in a time I really needed it. Not to mention I was proud that she believed she was a queen as well. I hope she holds on to that for the rest of her life.

Thank you for the high-five, Universe.
